The sixth edition of this cultural festival on thought processes and creativity was held November 11 - 13. Among the participants was Spanish writer, Javier Cercas, American composer, John Luther Adams, and English critic and Shakespeare expert, Gordon McMullan. Through its Active Teachers program, Fundación Mar Adentro invited teachers from different regions of Chile to participate in the festival.

For the first time, this year’s Puerto de Ideas foundation formed an advisory council to analyze its contents and propose speakers and/or themes for its Valparaíso festival. The advising committee has been operating since the commencement of the Antofagasta festival in 2014, one dedicated entirely to science.

In Valparaíso, where topics range from arts and humanities to science and the environment, the council has brought together various advisors: Philosopher, Martín Hopenhayn, essayist, Adriana Valdés, lawyer and writer, Agustín Squella, visual artist, Pablo Chiuminatto, sociologist, Manuel Antonio Garretón, poet and editor, Matías Rivas, and journalist, Ascanio Cavallo, and finally Fundación Mar Adentro’s president, Madeline Hurtado.
