Applications for Active Teachers 2020 Now Open
Applications for Fundación Mar Adentro's (FMA) Active Teachers program will be open until March 11. The program invites educators from the Araucanía region to embark on an interdisciplinary non-formal training initiative that incorporates the arts, nature and territory.
Teachers interested in this program must apply in pairs and be from the same educational establishment. In addition, they must be from different disciplines: one from the arts (music, visual arts, dance, theater, etc.) and one from different areas of knowledge, such as: science, math, history, etc.
The authors of the winning projects will have the opportunity to embark on a unique experience of learning and creative stimulation that consists, in its first stage, of a visit to the city of Punta Arenas from March 23 to 27, 2020. There, they will carry out educational activities in nature and participate in various work sessions with the team of artists and scientists of the Río Seco Natural History Museum (MHNRS), among other activities.
During this first stage they will also be able to develop and improve the projects that they applied to the program with. With the support of Fundación Mar Adentro’s team, the MHNRS and other collaborators and academics will be available to strengthen the initial proposals and apply the lessons learned during the various activities undertaken up to that point in the program.
In the second stage, the teachers will visit Bosque Pehuén (Araucanía region) –a privately protected area of conservation administered by Fundación Mar Adentro– during April 2020. They will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge and present their final projects, which will be executed in their own educational establishments during the second semester of this year.
The program benefits include: transport to Punta Arenas; accommodation for 4 nights in the city; all food consumption during entire program in Magallanes; transport to scheduled activities, and 400,000 CLP to be utilized to implement the project developed with their own students, which is to take place during the second semester of 2020.
