Open-call for Resonancias Residency Program developed by Goethe Institut, Instituto Chileno-Francés and MINCAP in alliance with 6 national residency spaces
Applications to Resonancias (Resonances) 2021, a residency program organized by the Goethe-Institut Chile and the French Institute of Chile, with support from the Franco-German Cultural Fund and the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, will be open until June 14. Bosque Pehuén, located in the Andean Araucanía, will be one of six residency spaces.
The Resonancias (Resonances) residency program, created in 2019, seeks to promote interdisciplinary investigation in Chile. This year, the program invites artists from Chile, Germany and France who wish to conduct research in one of the associated residency spaces throughout the country. Resonancias 2021 aims to strengthen cooperation between Chile, Germany and France through a program that unites, in each residency space, three artists from the aforementioned countries to develop artistic investigations in a Chilean territory.
This new modality is carried out with individual investigations, with a common theme stemming from the residency spaces and with collective investigations. The projects should focus on territorial research with a collaborative profile, community exchange, and reflections, be it artistic, scientific, academic or social.
The disciplines considered by this program are: visual arts, photography, sound art, performing arts, media art, literature, cinema, architecture and urbanism. Other disciplines linked to contemporary thought that wish to develop interdisciplinary work can also be included.
The call, aimed at researchers and artists interested in developing an art research residency for one month between September and November 2021, in any of the follow six residency spaces associated to the program: Fundación Mar Adentro’s Bosque Pehuén (Araucanía Region), ISLA/SACO (Antofagasta Region), Nave (Metropolitan Region), Casa Espacio Buenos Aires 824 Fivf (Valparaíso Region), Tsonami Arte Sonoro’s BASE (Valparaíso Region) and Universidad de Magallanes (Magallanes Region).
Specifically in Bosque Pehuén, in the Residency Program we carry out every year in our privately protected area of conservation in the Chilean Araucanía, individual German or German-resident artists, French or French-resident artists, and artists residing in the Araucanía region are eligible to apply. We seek to develop research under the theme of movements and architectures of nature, to explore those invisible movements and ecosystem formations in nature that go unnoticed. It is expected that during their stay in Bosque Pehuén in November 2021, participants will be able to create a collaborative project that unites the individual visions and proposals.
