Fundación Mar Adentro (FMA) invites all teachers of educational institutions in the Araucanía and Magallanes regions to participate in the 2019 Active Teachers program, an opportunity for multidisciplinary training and creative stimulation, which will take place from April 24th to the 28th in Punta Arenas.
The Active Teachers program, created in 2012, contributes to the continued training of teachers, especially in the areas of art, culture, and environmental science. The program will be open for applications until March 25th. Those interested in applying should present their proposal in pairs for it must contemplate an interdisciplinary project proposal that contemplates designing an activity for students that combine art and nature. Both teachers need to belong to the same educational establishment, and duos need to be composed of an art teacher (i.e. visual arts or performing arts) and a teacher of a different subject.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee formed by representatives of the Foundation as well as from the Río Seco Natural History Museum, of which four projects will be chosen. Those selected will be invited to participate in a training workshop program in Punta Arenas, and participate in the following activities: visits to creative spaces related to the arts; a day of working in collaboration with artists and scientists from the Río Seco Natural History Museum; and an excursion outside of the city to experience different teaching methodologies that combine art practices with outdoor nature experiences.
The selected participants will be awarded with the following: transport and accommodation for four nights in Punta Arenas (for those who do not reside in this city) along with meals and transportation throughout the entire program.
In addition, $300,000 CLP will be awarded to each selected project in order to fund student activities to be conducted during the second semester of the 2019 school year. Once the training program has finalized, each duo must send an updated version of their proposal to Fundación Mar Adentro.
