FMA scholarships teachers for Puerto de Ideas

Teachers of the nine winning teams of the 2013 Colorearte competition “Bichos” as well as professors of the Universidad Alberto Hurtado, were invited by Fundación Mar Adentro to attend to the third version of the Valparaíso Puerto de Ideas Festival.

Chilean poetry and music, French cinema, Italian literature and an artistic look at the Tierra del Fuego ecosystem were some of the events attended by educators from the schools that this year won the Colorearte “Bichos” dyeing contest. Additionally, on behalf of the Alberto Hurtado University, the Director of Development, Elena Serrano; the Coordinator of Art and Culture, Pilar Santelices; the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, Eduardo Silva S.J., along with academics of History, Philosophy, Anthropology, Music, Art and Aesthetics, who participated in the exhibitions of the French historian, Francois Hartog and the musicologist Gastón Soublette, among others. In addition, they shared a lunch with neuroscientist Charles Zuker and essayist Juan Villoro, who was also attended by the director of the Puerto de Ideas Foundation, Chantal Signorio

During the three days in which the festival took place, the Fundación Mar Adentro team made this cultural trip through Valparaíso together with this diverse group of teachers from Antofagasta, Calama, Copiapó, Vallenar, Parral, Concepción and Santiago in order to share experiences between teachers, offer an opportunity to interact and learn about knowledge from other places as well as getting them out of their daily routines to learn about new teaching methodologies.

The Puerto de Ideas Festival is a unique event in Chile that has been held annually since 2011, with the support of the Coca Cola Happiness Institute and the Mar Adentro Foundation. The event, open to all public, brings together representatives of the arts, humanists and scientists with the aim of reflecting on today’s society, integrating various disciplines and areas of knowledge.
