Call invites teachers from La Araucanía to live an experience of art and ecology in nature

Under the theme Resilience , the Active Teacher 2024 program : Art and ecology in education by Fundación Mar Adentro opens its call to communities of educators from the towns of Villarrica, Pucón and Curarrehue to be part of a formative and co-learning experience linked to the care of ecosystems through artistic experimentation.

Until April 15, applicants must present a problematic that affects their educational community, connected to this year’s theme: Resilience. In addition, for those who require support in the application, on Friday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. an orientation session will be held at the Universidad de la Frontera in Pucón (Caupolicán 78), with registration at this LINK.

As for this year’s theme, resilience is related to the collective capacity to self-organize, learn and adapt to return to dynamic stability after a breakup. Given the uncertainty of the changes we are experiencing today, diversity is highlighted as a value in tune with the collective, transdisciplinarity and the flexibility to reinvent ourselves.

The program, open to formal and non-formal educational communities, seeks to generate a network among teachers so that they develop skills to create innovative pedagogical initiatives that link art, science and ecology.

Active Teaching Experience

The program includes three days of in person sessions during the month of May 2024: Wednesday 8th in the city of Villarrica , Thursday 9th in Bosque Pehuén , an area protected by Fundación Mar Adentro and an experimental open-air laboratory for conservation and transdisciplinary research, and Friday 10th in Kodkod to develop project design work in educational spaces. The program also includes online and in-person support and accompaniment during the different stages of project development and implementation.

Requirements

–   Applicants must be a duo of teachers or educators from different subjects or work areas (e.g. art + math, music + science, etc.)

–   The application must address a problematic or topic that challenges your educational community in consideration of this year’s theme: Resilience .

–   Your application must be complete and include the attached letter of commitment from the director of the educational facility where you will carry out your project.

–   Teachers can participate in the program up to 2 times.

–   At least one of the educators must work in an educational space in the communes of Villarrica, Pucón or Curarrehue.

About the program

Docente Activo seeks to foster the collective creation of educational projects that integrate transdisciplinary strategies to address knowledge of nature from multiple perspectives, languages and knowledge, as well as to highlight the importance of generating more diverse and resilient ecosystems. In this regard, the FMA learning team has highlighted that this initiative invites us to “regenerate and nourish ourselves from the base from which our inspirations emerge, to learn and teach educational practices that reflect the way we relate to ourselves and nature.”

It is also an experience that values cultural knowledge and the landscapes we inhabit to celebrate processes, share learning and stimulate collective inspiration to continue creating transdisciplinary and territory-sensitive learning experiences.
