Open call for the Docente Activo Program 2023: Reconnecting to regenerate: art and ecology in education

This year’s program “Reconnect to regenerate: art and ecology in education“, seeks to promote among teachers from different areas, the strengthening of a transdisciplinary education focused on the care of nature, based on art, regeneration and ecological restoration, including individual, social and cultural ecosystems. 

The call is aimed at pairs of teachers from different disciplines working in the municipalities of Villarrica, Pucón and Curarrehue. They must apply by presenting a problem that affects their educational community and that is related in some way to the theme of this call. Throughout the development of the program, the problem presented will serve as a guide for the development of a project to be implemented in their educational establishments.

In the first stage, the selected pairs will be invited to participate in the Docente Activo experience for two full days: Tuesday 23 (in the city of Villarrica) and Wednesday April 24 (in Bosque Pehuén, in the Alto Palguín area, Pucón), where theoretical and practical activities will be carried out to share experiences and contents that promote the link and care of the ecosystems inhabited by the teachers through artistic experimentation.

The objective of this first stage is to promote new methodologies to create innovative pedagogical initiatives that can be replicated with their students; practices that link art, ecology and their own work disciplines, to address the issues presented at the time of application. It is also important to generate a network of teachers that allows for collaborative learning spaces.  

The program includes online and in-person support and mentoring at different stages of the development and implementation of the projects. It should be noted that this 2023 version of the Mar Adentro Foundation’s Docente Activo Program is being designed and implemented jointly with the Corporación Cultural Obras Naturales, an organization that works on environmental culture through art as an integral tool.
