Students from the School
In July 2011 the community of Sauzal celebrated the renewal of the playgrounds and school grounds of the Octavio Palma Pérez School, which hosts 87 pre-primary and primary leveled students from Sauzal and other local towns. The project was carried out together with Fundación Mi Parque and Corporación Chileambiente.
Green areas, playgrounds, educational art murals, exercise machines, a vegetable garden and greenhouse were installed in several sectors of the school. Furthermore, in order to support the good academic standing this school has already shown, spaces for studies and art were also improved in this project.
Driven by our mission to promote an equitable education, our foundation participated in this project, in which we were able to incorporate art and sustainable planning, two elements that we consider necessary for a child’s comprehensive education.
The construction and improvement involved the use of natural materials, such as stone and wood, as well as planting floral species of the area with the aim of improving the conditions of this educational space, while keeping the identity of their local culture.
The project was developed in a participatory manner where students, teachers and community members worked together with the various specialized teams in this sustainable planning project.
