Chilean and Nordic Illustrators in an Art Residency in the South of Chile

Four Chilean illustrators and four Nordic illustrators from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark were selected and invited by Fundación Mar Adentro and the respective embassies to conduct a residence in protected areas of Pucón and Chiloé. They were accompanied by Chilean conservation experts. They finished their visit carrying out workshops in local schools of each locality as well as activities open to the community. At the Carileufu School they painted a mural.

FMA Takes Active Teachers Program to Puerto de Ideas

Teachers from all regions of Chile, including Rapa Nui, will travel to Valparaiso to experience the 2016 Puerto de Ideas Festival. This is the fifth consecutive year that FMA makes these invitations for 3 days, but this time it does so in alliance with the National Council of Culture and The Arts of Chile, further enhancing the impact and doubling the beneficiaries.

Advances in Conservation

We attended the IUCN Congress and met with coinciding thoughts in that opportunities for conservation are in integration. We believe that the New Conservation Property Right held within the new Law of Conservation of Chile is a remarkable achievement and an extraordinary landmark in the history of conservation in Chile. As a foundation we shared our optimistic view.

The National Council of Culture and The Arts of Chile and FMA Sign an Agreement

The alliance signed today by the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Ottone, and the president of Fundación Mar Adentro, Madeline Hurtado, will strengthen the management and networks of both institutions with projects in different regions of Chile as well as Santiago that will seek to improve the ongoing training of teachers in the field of the arts and culture.

A Nicanor Parra Play in Isla Quinchao

An alliance between Universidad de Chile, the Regional Council of Culture and The Arts of Los Lagos Region, the Municipal Corporation of Curaco de Vélez and Fundación Mar Adentro, will allow more than 400 students from the Island of Quinchao, Chiloé, to see the play Antibiografía (Antibiography), carried out by the company Los Viajantes (The Travelers) of the Chilean National Theater, in a single function on Tuesday, September 6th at 12 o'clock in the Municipal Gymnasium of Curaco de Vélez.

IV Annual Comic Book and Illustration Event

With Liniers, PowerPaola and Alberto Montt as this year's special guests, the Fourth Annual Comic Book and Illustration Event is an instance that offers lectures, workshops, an exhibition, and a fair of illustrators and publishers. The three featured artists exhibit their original works in the Casona Nemesio Antúnez of La Reina in Santiago, sponsored by Fundación Mar Adentro.

FMA Donates the First Collection of Chilean Native Forest Canopy Mosses to the MNHN

17 was the number of mosses and liverworts recorded in a pioneering study in the treetops of Bosque Pehuén. Two of these mosses are new records for the Region of Araucanía in Chile.

Rapa Nui Inaugurates the First Sustainable Music School from Latin America

Fundación Mar Adentro has once again supported the great work of NGO Toki, an organization that seeks to preserve the Rapa Nui culture and project it out into the world, signing an agreement to provide scholarships for three music teachers to impart music lessons.

A Natural Laboratory

A summer camp and scientific-artistic workshop were held in January to sensitize children and adolescents with the ecosystem in which they live. Both experiences were made in Cabo Frío (Cold Cape), Punta Arenas and were designed by the artist Aymara Zegers, biologist Germán Manríquez and the Natural History Museum of Río Seco team. FMA participated as a collaboratoring partner and advisor.
