Organizations work to influence the construction of a culture of environmental philanthropy in Chile

More than 40 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and study centers met at the fifth assembly of the Environmental Philanthropy Network, which seeks to promote a culture of environmental philanthropy in Chile and promote public policies that encourage voluntary contributions of the private and social sector to the care of nature. This participation is key in Chile, since it is one of the most under-funded countries in terms of nature protection and, in addition, 80% of biodiversity is found outside the State’s protected areas.

Also, there are no public policies that encourage the work of civil society organizations, which play a fundamental role in carrying out conservation environmental philanthropy actions, for example, through research initiatives, education, defense of natural heritage, strengthening of public policy, public-private cooperation, dissemination, resource management, among other activities.
