Fundación Mar Adentro promotes Environmental Poetry Slam

The event, which consists of a poetry contest and a live reading of the selected poems, will take place on August 6th.

Festival Internacional de Poesía de Santiago (The International Festival of Poetry in Santiago) in collaboration with Revista Endémico bring together artists from all over the world to participate in a Poetry Slam Contest: Water, Biodiversity and Indigenous Populations.

This poetry slam, with the support of Fundación Mar Adentro and Goethe Institut, is a cultural-artistic event, free and open to the public, which through the use of the spoken word highlights the body on stage. It is an interactive game between the audience and the text being recited, where the winner is then selected by both the jury composed of a panel of experts and the spectators. The competition itself is not as important in this initiative as the participation and the experience of various possibilities that emerge in the encounter between the body and the orality of the text.

Everyone who resides in Chile, as well as in any other part of the world, is eligible to take part in this gathering. The works presented must be original, written and recited in Spanish, and must not have been published in any type of media or awarded in any other competition. Participation is free, and the application form for submitting your works can be found here.

The submissions close on July 17, 2020, and the results will be published on July 30 together with the names of the members of the jury. For more on guidelines click here.

The live reading of the poems will take place on Thursday August 6th at 7pm (Chile time) via streaming through Facebook Live on the pages of the organizers (Endémico and Festival Internacional de Poesía de Santiago).
