Art and Climate Change Come Together at La Moneda Cultural Center activities for Children and Adults

Ciudad Ambiental: creativity + action for the planet, is a series of workshops organized by Fundación Mar Adentro that consists of various environmental education workshop that combine with artistic methodologies which will take place during January at the La Moneda Cultural Center.

On January 4, 5, 11 and 18, free workshops will take place at the La Moneda Cultural Center (Plaza de la Ciudadanía 26, Santiago, Metro La Moneda), and offer an array of entertainment as well as teachings on climate change and various related topics, such as: migration, the value of coastal areas, deforestation and native flora, and more.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  • Human Migration: An Opportunity For Development
    Jan 4 – 11:30am to 1:00pm – Ages 12+
    An activity led by Fundación An Nou Palé which will lead participants to reflect over the migratory phenomenon in Chile as well as how climate change has affected human migrations worldwide.

  • Discovering Coastal Areas
    Jan 5 – 11:30am to 1:00pm – Ages 6+
    To be conducted by Fundación Aula de Mar, and seeks to raise awareness on the water cycle, encouraging participants to recognize the value of the Pacific basin, coastal areas and the impact of climate change on these.

  • Medicinal Native Flora: Caring to Protect & Food and Colors for Biodiversity
    Jan 11 and 12 – 11:30am to 1:00pm – Ages 10+
    Cooperativa Semilla Austral will offers these instances to learn and experiment on diversity and our relationship with ecosystems, through sound landscape, dance, conversation circles and identification of native species, as well as other art techniques.

  • “From waste to jewel”
    Jan 18 – 11:30am to 1:00pm – Ages 16+
    FabLab Santiago will teach us in this creative laboratory how to develop creative tools to reuse waste materials.
